Adam: What are your qualifications?
Synopsis
The spirits of a deceased couple are haunted by an insufferable family that has moved into their home, and they hire a malevolent spirit to exorcise them. This is Michael Keaton’s favorite movie. Otho’s shoes as he walks through the bathroom, then they change back to red elf shoes as he enters the next room. Beetlejuice: Ah. Well… I went to Juilliard… I graduated from Harvard Business School. I travel quite a lot. I lived through the Black Death and had a great time doing it.
NOW WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?
I’ve seen the exorcist about a hundred and sixty seven times and EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT, it gets FUNNIER… Not to mention the fact YOU’RE TALKING TO A DEAD NUMBER, do… Do you think I am qualified? The Geffen Company logo is accompanied by a haunting version of the Banana Boat song (sung by the film’s composer, Danny Elfman). The making of the film has surfaced with some added/alternative scenes. This version of the film is about 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical release, has some extra scenes and some others are missing, is black and white, and has a timecode at the bottom. This version has 4 main differences: Alternate Scene: The scene when Adam tried to leave the house after he and his wife died is different.
Cut to Terror Toons (2002)
Instead of a desert, he sees an empty darkness filled with spinning gears. Extra Scenes: There is another scene where Lydia develops the pictures she took of Adam and Barbra. Then, after her mother yells at her and blames her for cutting holes in her sheets, Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her father that the pictures are real. There’s a lot more to the scene where the adults are searching the attic for ghosts when we see the desert monster try to eat Adam and Barbra as they hang from the attic window. Finally, there’s an extra 2 minute scene at the end where we see Lydia riding her bike home from school and her parents talking to Jane on the phone, telling her they don’t want to sell the house. Lydia’s dancing scene is shorter in this version, and there is no scene with Beetlejuice in the waiting room. The film ends with a final exterior shot of the house.

Attaway & Irving Burgie [Incorrectly written by William A. Attaway & Irving Burgie (as Lord Burgess)] Performed by Harry Belafonte, courtesy of RCA Records. This movie has always been: 1 – very popular; 2 – very different; 3 – very entertaining; 4 – a very fast moving one and a half hour film. Many of the characters here – especially Michael Keaton’s unique and sometimes outrageous title character, “Bug Juice” – are always fascinating to watch. With it – and throughout the film – there is a lot of humor and scary special effects. It was strange to see Alec Baldwin in such a subdued role. In the ’90s, he played very little with those types of guys.
All are good
Davis looks and acts like… well, Davis, who has almost always played nice, cute people that viewers love. It took me four viewings to finally appreciate Catharine O’Hara’s comedic talent in this film. Now she’s my favorite and I find her absolutely hilarious as a spoiled wife/mother who moves into a “haunted house”. Baldwin and Davis lived. Keaton made a name for himself as an actor with this knock-off Robin Williams-type role, though he never followed up with anything as popular as this film. Winona Rider is cute as the teenage daughter, and we get other fun supporting roles from people as diverse as talk show host Dick Cavett, singer Robert Goulet, and actor Jeffrey Jones.
